The 2007 People vs. the Pros Ultimate Pro-Am Championship, is being held in Los Cabos Mexico as we speak. The tournament features amateur golfers playing in two age divisions competing in the prestigious 54-Hole finals tournament from December 1-3, 2007, after playing a practice round on November 30, 2007. The ultimate shoot-out winners in each age Division battle PGA Tour star Chris DiMarco (18-49 Division) and Champions legend Tom Watson (50+ Division), with benefit of their handicaps, in matches televised on ESPN2, December 23, 2007 from 12 noon to 2pm EST, with $50,000 to the charity of choice for the winner of each match.
Our location is the magnificent golf destination, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Over the last 20 years "Cabo" has become the playground for the rich and famous... and not so famous, and is home to several world class championship golf courses.
YOU WILL PLAY THESE FOUR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP COURSES
The Desert Course At Cabo Del Sol
The Desert Course at Cabo del Sol is a classic desert golf course designed by desert golf master Tom Weiskopf. Considered by many as one of Weiskopf's finest designs, It possesses an enticing blend of par fours ranging from the teasingly short 329 yard, downhill fourth to the intimidating, into the wind 480 yard thirteenth. Toss the death or glory par 5 ninth into the mix along with the stunning views from each hole and The Desert Course course takes you on a scenic thrill ride as it winds its way through lush desert landscape and canyon-like arroyos high above The Ocean Course and the Sea of Cortez. Highlighted by mesmerizing views of the Sea of Cortez from every hole Weiskopf calls The Desert Course “one of the most scenic courses” he has designed.
Cabo Real Golf Club
This Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed golf course winds its way around beautiful homes and the exclusive Las Ventanas al Paraiso Resort. While it challenges the low handicapper, it has multiple tees for players of all levels, but you have to hit it straight. Fairway sand traps have been placed at distances that require accurate tee shots as holes move up the mountainside then back down to the beach. The back nine glides down towards the sea offering dramatic views of this picturesque and diverse course, with the most spectacular coming from the 15th tee, directly on the beach, playing along the surf in front of the hotel Melia Cabo Real and the Las Ventanas al Paraiso.
One & Only Palmilla Golf Club
The Palmilla is one of the world's truly picturesque golf destinations, created with a unique blend of desert and sea. While the Palmilla offers an Arroyo Nine, a back Mountain Nine, and an Ocean Nine, the People vs. the Pros event will be played on the Ocean Nine and Mountain Nine. Jack Nicklaus remarked, “the Ocean Nine was like designing mountains by the sea.” Nearly every hole has its own view of the Sea of Cortés while gentle slopes, wide fairways, and large, challenging greens greet players on the back tees. A dramatic range of holes include, the 460-yard, 6th that features a long dog-leg right, while the very next hole, the 7th, stretches 560 yards alongside an ominous arroyo.
Club Campestre San Jose
Club Campestre is home to a spectacular clubhouse that is the center of 18 picturesque, championship caliber holes designed by Jack Nicklaus. While many of the holes have magnificent views of the Sea of Cortés, all offer challenges that are trademarks of a Nicklaus course — strategically placed sand traps, gently sloping greens, doglegs that force players to both fade and draw the ball — so players will be required to “manage” their game, not just grip it and rip it. At Club Campestre, low and high handicappers alike will leave knowing they have experienced a true test of golf.
